The city could be getting $26 million in provincial funding to upgrade transit infrastructure.

Monte McNaughton, minster of infrastructure, and Jeff Yurek, minister of transportation, were in the city Tuesday morning to announce infrastructure funding.

The ministers met with local dignitaries at the Peterborough Transit Garage, where they announced the provincial and federal governments will invest $30 billion toward transit systems over the next decade.

The first round of public transit stream funding is $1.62 billion and is available to 85 municipalities outside the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA), including Peterborough.
