Barrie will be getting some much-needed financial help from both the provincial and federal governments to assist with public transit.

On April 2, between provincial and federal help, eligible municipalities will see $1.62 billion shared among them under the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP).

Barrie will see the Ontario government provide about $19 million that, when combined with the federal and municipal government cash, will total more than $58 million going into the city’s growing transit system.
